The best Splitwise alternatives in 2026

If Splitwise’s daily limit on free expenses is what bothers you, none of Tricount, Settle Up, Splid, Spliit, Splitser and MySharedXP advertises a daily limit on expenses. Which one fits depends on whether everyone wants an account, whether you need it offline, and which country your group is in.

Part of Splitwise alternative

Why people look beyond Splitwise

According to Splitwise’s help centre, its free plan lets you add up to 4 expenses a day. Its Pro plan removes the limit and the ads, and adds receipt scanning, currency conversion, charts and search. If that suits you, Splitwise Pro is a solid choice. If you would rather not pay to add expenses, these are the alternatives worth a look.

Tricount: free, no ads, tied to a bank

Tricount calls itself free with no ads and no limits, and people can try it without creating an account. It has been owned by the bank bunq since 2022. With its new app in 2026 it dropped its paid plan, and with it CSV and PDF export; for an export you now email bunq support. A good fit if your group wants zero cost and does not mind the bank connection.

Settle Up: offline and in a browser

Settle Up works offline and syncs later, supports all currencies with live rates, and lets members check balances in a browser without installing anything. The free version shows ads; Premium removes them and adds receipt photos, recurring expenses, statistics and Excel export.

Splid: no sign-up, made for travel

Splid needs no sign-up, converts 150+ currencies automatically and works offline, with optional sync. It is made by an independent developer in Munich. PDF summaries are included; Excel export is an in-app purchase.

Spliit: open source and free

Spliit is open source under the MIT licence, free, without ads or accounts, and funded by donations. It runs in the browser and as an iPhone app, and technical users can host it themselves. Receipt scanning is in beta.

Splitser (WieBetaaltWat): pay back by iDEAL, Wero or Bancontact

Splitser, the international version of WieBetaaltWat, says 5 million people have an account. It runs on iPhone, Android and the web, and lets people pay each other back with iDEAL, Wero or Bancontact. The free app shows ads; Premium adds CSV and PDF export.

MySharedXP: unlimited expenses, independent

MySharedXP, which publishes this guide, has no cap on expenses on any plan, splits four ways and settles with as few payments as possible. It recognises a Splitwise export, so a group can move over with its history. Other currencies are converted at the ECB rate of each expense’s day on the free plan. Its apps add expenses offline and send them when you are back online, everyone needs a free account, and it has an Android app and runs as an installable web app until the iPhone app arrives. Pro adds insights, receipt scanning, budgets and recurring expenses.
